SAFETY & HEALTH GENERAL POLICY STATEMENT

METCO SDN BHD as the managing body of MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE & EXHIBITION CENTRE (MITEC) is committed to ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of all persons within its premises, including employees, contractors, organisers, vendors, and members of the public.

To achieve this objective, MITEC has established and will continuously improve a comprehensive Safety and Health Management System, inclusive of crisis and incident management, integrated into all planning, operational, and event-related activities.

This system ensures safety and health through:

  • Compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Adoption of best industry practices
  • Systematic hazard identification and risk control
  • Integration of safety and health into organisational planning and operations

MITEC will, as far as practicable:

  • Identify hazards and eliminate or control risks
  • Establish and enforce safe work procedures and programs
  • Provide appropriate induction, training, supervision, and competency development
  • Implement and maintain emergency preparedness and response arrangements
  • Consult with employees, contractors, organisers, and relevant stakeholders
  • Communicate safety and health information effectively
  • Monitor, audit, and enforce compliance with safety requirements
  • Provide adequate resources to support effective implementation

MITEC is committed to effective crisis and incident management. All incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and emergencies must be immediately reported and will be promptly managed, investigated, and reviewed. MITEC reserves the right to implement control measures, including Stop Work Orders, conduct investigations, convene explanation sessions, and enforce corrective, preventive, or disciplinary actions where non-compliance is identified.

Any non-compliance with this policy or failure to follow MITEC safety instructions will be subject to enforcement actions in accordance with MITEC’s rules, procedures, and contractual terms. All employees, contractors, organisers, vendors, and associated personnel are accountable for safety and health performance within their respective areas of responsibility. MITEC will regularly monitor, review, and improve the effectiveness of this policy and its Safety and Health Management System.
